Over at Soft Concrete we’re all about promoting other cultures, so it would only make sense for us to talk about Eurovision. For those of you who have no knowledge of Eurovision, it is a singing contest that happens each year in Europe. Many countries compete by picking one artist to represent the whole country, and just like most singing competitions, the artists have to go through rounds. The countries that make it to the end get to perform during the final round on live television, and at the very end of the show, the artists are voted on. The winner of Eurovision then performs their winning song and gives their country the opportunity to host next year’s Eurovision.
This year, the grand final will be held in Vienna on May 23rd with several countries returning to compete. Joining everyone will be Australia, making it their first year to ever compete. However the semi-finals start early next week on May 19th and May 21st, which means we won’t know the whole list of who will be competing during the grand final until then.
For the time being, here are some videos of past winners! Let us know who your favorite Eurovision contestant was in the past and who you want to win this year!
