Interview: Run Like Rivers

Run Like Rivers may be a fairly new band, but don’t let that fool you, because they sure seem to know what they want. Hailing from Norwich, UK, this three piece band are busy writing new songs at the moment. Check out the interview below to learn a little bit more about them!

Melisa Baykent:  Hello! Thanks for doing this interview. First of all could you give us a brief history on how the band formed?

Joey: Hello! No, thank you! Well, back before the summer holidays in 2012, I (Joey) wanted to start a band, so I started a band with ex-bassist Will and guitarist Georgia. We brought in guitarist Liam, but due to mutual agreement, Will left. Things carried on like that for a while, with me (Joey) and Liam doing an acoustic gig and recording an acoustic EP behind the scenes. Then in February of this year, we brought in bassist Luke and guitarist Joe, but in March they both left due to personal reasons. And that’s how Run Like Rivers formed.

MB: When can we expect new music from you guys?

J: Well, we’re in the process of writing new songs at the moment, and having trouble with finding a drummer, but once we’ve found a drummer, we’re ready to release some new music!

MB: Are there any bands you wish to tour with/share the stage with?

J:  There’s loads of bands we’d love to play with, bands like The Wonder Years, The Story So Far, Fireworks, Blink-182, Four Year Strong among many others.

MB: How/when did you get into music?

J:  I think music offers an escape for a rough time, or just to have a general good time to, it can release your emotions, happy, sad or angry, and I think that’s how we got into music. Gigs also help, going to gigs gets you more into music as a whole, and inspires you in ways you couldn’t understand if you haven’t been to a gig. It helps recapture memories and experiences, whether good or bad. But it sure as hell helps a whole lot.

MB: What’s an interesting unknown fact about each member of the band?

Joey: I really like Star Wars, I know some pretty weird stuff about it, and watch it in sickness or in health.
Liam: I used to play ten-pin bowling for the England bowling academy.
Georgia: I’m Russian!

MB: What do you hope to achieve as a band?

J: We hope to achieve success, tours, albums, fans, and to have an incredible journey and experience.

MB: If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

J: I’d love to collaborate with The Wonder Years or Bring Me The Horizon.
G: It’d be great to collaborate with Ray Davies.
L: Deryck Whibley from Sum 41, I’d love that.

MB: Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans ?

J: Yeah, thank you for everything! Fans make creating music real fun, it’s so nice for people to enjoy our music, and you fans are great, thank you so much!
