I have just watched Shannen Bamford’s video for “Control” and fell in love with it instantly. She has a beautiful soft voice, and has composed a song full of meaning, hope and emotion. Expressing the way she feels through nostalgia -“time will pull me forward but I’m still healing, believing that there’s something waiting around the corner to revive me”. You will get lost in this story of hope and loss. The video complements the song perfectly, softly shot, with atmospheric effects, as Shannen sings and plays her guitar in the open air.
From Liverpool, this 20 year old has been performing within the local music scene for the past few years, in the hope of getting her music heard by as many people as possible. Winning a local newspaper song-writing competition at just aged 10, Shannen spent the next several years writing and practicing her music. She describes her music as ‘twinkly acoustic tracks and dark atmospheric piano tracks’.
Shannen has played a host of local music festivals and gigs, and performed at last years Liverpool Music Awards, gaining Rebecca Ferguson and Mel C as fans.
Her debut EP ‘Paper Planes’ in available for pre-order on 13 May 2013, with the release date set for 10 June.
